These panels can be heavy and are not suitable for every home. Homes with large windows should probably not use Steel Hurricane Panels because they would be too heavy. Two story homes should not have panels on their second floor. Installing hurricane panels from your roof or ladder can be very dangerous. Accordion shutters are a great alternative. Aluminum Hurricane Panels They are the best option if you wish to save money and have an easy installation before a hurricane. The panels are very lightweight and easy to handle. Because they are aluminum they can also be stored outdoors with a protective covering if need be. They are the most popular type of hurricane protection because of their easy installation and their low cost. All of our hurricane panels will be clearly marked for your convenience. You will be provided with extra hardware and any removable tracks will also be clearly marked. Once the hurricane has passed be sure to remove your panels as soon as possible. |
Plywood?
Evidence from previous hurricane has shown that plywood
boards not properly installed used for protection became flying missiles as they
blew away creating added hazards. Broken windows exposed homes to internal pressurization
causing roofs to explode and walls to collapse. Properly installed, Miami-Dade
County approved hurricane shutters remain strongly secure and cannot be pulled
away from window frames and doors during a storm.
